Pedals...?

Hi All, i first asked a question about my clutch pedal sitting to low some time back, but i still haven,t been able to find the problem, my car is a 2.7 1975.

This weekend i was cleaning the interior and looking at the pedals, the brake pedal is more towards the seat than the other two are , could the brake pedal be my problem and not my clutch pedal as i thought, my clutch works fine and the adjustment looks ok and the pedal sits inline with my gas pedal, if the brake pedal is wrong , how do i get it to in line with the other two.

cheers
Rik

You didn't provide much information so the best we can do is to guess. It's really a process of elimination. First, you need to have a good clutch cable in the car. Second, the cable needs to be adjusted correctly. Third, the pedal cluster in good working order. And last, the springs need to be able to produce the original spec tension. The clutch pedal has three springs that affect it's movement - two at the transmission and 1 at the pedal cluster. Any one of those could contribute to your problem.

If it were my car, I would probably follow the sequence above to figure out what was going on. The cost could be $0 to a max of $200 for parts. Labor depends on whether or not you do your own work.

Others may have different recommendations.

Hi,
i haven,t rebuilt the pedal cluster, but i did fit a new spring at the clutch pedal end about a year ago and a new clutch cable was fitted as well, on my year of car i think there is only one spring, there isn,t any spring at the gearbox end, the clutch adjustment is right and it works fine.

My problem is that i always thought the clutch was lower than the brake pedal and that was what was wrong, now i,m looking at it thinking it could be that the brake pedal could be the problem, as the clutch and gas pedals are inline with each other and the brake pedal is further forward towards me.

thanks for help
Rik
