pushing in spark plug wires.....
 

when pushing in spark plug wires, they should be pushed firmly in until there is a distinct "plop" sound, correct?

well, i just got the car back from the shop after a valve adjustment
(which I felt i was over charged, they didnt stick to original estimate, they went ahead and proceeding with a different estimate without my permission)

anyway, i got the car back from the shop and checked the plug wires, all 6 of them seemed to come out with no effort whatsoever....when they are pushed it the correct way, they shouldn't come out easily, or am I wrong?

I went ahead and forced them in hard until I heard a "plop"...no they feel more secure....thanks for your input..

My experience on an '88 with OEM wires is that they connect with a "click".

Yes, 'click' is how I would describe the sound of a Beru connector seating on a spark plug terminal!

Hello

That plop comes after some hours driving. The air inside will get heatet up and vanish out then the rubber will close out the normal air and have a slight underpressure.

Thats the way it is constructet. If it wount plop after some days usage the rubber boot is gone and have to be replaced. After some "hard times" the rubber can "melt" onto the plug. Also to be checked is if you feel the clamp sliding over the threads off the spark stud.

The "correct" feeling is hard to descripe.

If you have the bullet type connector on the spark plug it is much simpler.

Yes, they must "plop" or "click". Otherwise they are just sitting on top the of the plug connector and could back off and retard the spark.

If you are currious if the shop did a good job take out a plug and see if they put anti-sieze on it http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif Good shops will.

Next time do your own valves, save your money, and know you did it right.
