Changing to a Slave Cylinder from a Cabled Clutch

Came across this on the Gunnar Racing site. I would really like to do this. Does anyone have the specifics of how this is done ?

Thanks
David

I don't know any of the specifics. I'd guess that the difficulty in converting your MC, pedal cluster and then the tranny slave is not worth the $$$ and trouble...

I have seen it done on a 904 reproduction. I guess you know that the posted pic is of a up-side-down 935 transmission? Isnt that pic from the RATT? Like Don said, can be done, but why?

don't have hard info,
but I figure the slave will react the pp quicker than a cable.. but the 915 is a pig for shifting to begin with..
and no disrespect to those who like to shifting it

I wouldn't do it. I have driven 915 cars and have a G50 Carrera with the hydraulic clutch. I love my G50, but I prefered the clutchs on the 915s. The shifting on the 915s was nearly natural while it took some time to really get the hydraulic clutch of the G50 down.

Yes this is from their RATT. I knew that was a 935 style transmission. I was going to convert to a Tilton brake setup (from my stock setup) and use the one that includes the reservoir for the hydraulic clutch. Maybe I will not do that if this is not worth the trouble.

Thanks
David

Does this mean that the cars with a 915 gearbox don't have a hydraulic clutch?

The reason I'm asking is that I just upgraded the brakes my car (new mc etc) and read in the Bentley manual that the slavecylinder for the clutch feeds of the same system as the brakes. In other words I would assume that I would have to bleed that as well, provided my car has one.

Yes. The clutches for the 915 gearboxes are all cable-actuated.

That's one of the reasons I think the Bentley manual isn't all that great, especially for someone new to these cars.

Thanks JR! Yeah, it made me kinda confused as it doesn't clearly distinguish between the models (at least not what I have seen).
