Cool 911 sc

I like it - but then again I am biased as I have one of those 1978 911 SCs the author credits for saving the 911 line. Not as fast or as powerful as the later lines, but very durable and a joy to drive. I hope the only way I loose this creature is when I turn the reigns over to my son, who at 17 can't wait to get it - but we will cross that bridge in ten or so years!

Great article and accurately sums up the experience of having an SC. Great to read and also interested in more. Thanks.

"Someone once described older 911s to me as being like small aircraft. When you start them up or drive slowly, they grumble and vibrate and make you sweat because there’s no power steering and first gear’s a sod when cold. Then you get a little heat into the systems, your speed comes up, the vibrations seem to cancel each other out, the steering lightens to become a tactile delight and you’re flying."

Ain't that the truth.

Agreed! I was just saying this (although not so eloquently) this past weekend. I was commenting how grumpy my 911 is when it's cold out and get it first gets rolling. Once everything is warmed up, it's like it wakes up and is ready to go.

I've never owned or driven a car with so much personality.

Great article! It describes perfectly why I own my SC.
