CIS airbox

Hi,

I am replacing my airbox and maybe ( hopefully not ) i have got the wrong one, all is identical expect the circuled "intake". I dont have this one one my old broken one.

Is there a plug that I can order to use this box ?? Any other ideas.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1301319139.gif

I have no idea what that's for.

You could use JB weld to seal it up. Or glue in an alloy plug turned to the right size on a lathe.
Do you know someone who has a lathe?

I would put a step in it so it fits in but will only go so far. JB again to glue it.

EDIT. I'll just go out the the garage and check my 78 SC. I have the engine on a stand at the moment.

I just replaced mine 2 days ago. I don't have that either. Any local auto Parts would have something to block it off,.

I dont recall that piece on any CIS airbox, usually the base of the cold start injector is the only hose back there.

My car is a 78. Are the ports on the your new box the right size?
You may have an earlier than 82 Air Box.

yes, thats the kind of bolt i need, i saw something somewhere but it was nla, but i guess any bolt with the right thread will do.

You should be able to find one at a breaking yard or maybe even a local "Porsche" specialist mechanic. (not a dealership)
You'd be surprised how many spare parts they may have lying around looking for a new home.

The one in my town has just about anything for an Air Cooled 911 in a big shed next to the main workshop.
It's a regular Aladdin's Cave.

Yes, a threaded plug with some sealant will do.
Critical is the diameter for the intake runners; they need to be the same as your old box.

Also, the vacuum connection for the brake Servo may be either a single line, or dual connections from behind and left side of the airbox joining into a Y and then a single line to the Servo.

thanks for the input, anybody knows the size of the bolt ?? Diameter is 22 mm.

Gunter - intakes and everything else is a perfect match.

Well for future reference. There is two parts needed, 90012402001 and 90012311830. This is if you have the 911.110.106.20 box.

Superservice at the local porsche center :D
