looking for trailer maintenance diy info

Anybody had experience with basic maintenance on trailers that they can share?
I have a trailex with surgebrakes, I was wondering if anyone has seen or has a DIY for maintenance ( brake bleeding, bearing pack, checking linings). Not much luck googling for it. I guess a lot of its just general techniques.

Curious how brake activator is determined to be good/safe other than stopping with a car loaded on it. It seems like people mention having them replaced.

Thanks

Might try etrailer.com. Their website has all sorts of instructive videos and Q&A sections.

One other thing to consider in your maintenance routine- adjust the drum brakes. They aren't self adjusting, instead there's an adjuster that you access from behind the drum. Like us older folks learned back in the day when all our cars had drum brakes.

Surge brakes are preferred on boat trailers as water can ruin electric brakes in short order.Electric brakes are OK on regular road trailers I am a big fan of" bearing buddies"which help keep grease in the hubseven with them I inspect and clean bearings and brakes yearly .In all my years towing tire failures have been my most common experience. Always carry a spare and consider replacing tires more than 5 yrs old, no matter how good they look. The carcass rots when sitting.
