Updating an Oldie but not so goodie.
 

I"ve purchased a project and I've been wondering which direction to take it. My car is a rust free, 98% there, 1973.5 911T so not that special of a car and I feel that I can basically go in any direction without destroying a piece of history. Remember, my ingenuity is much larger than my bank account so I've decided to build a 996 GT3 out of it.

I've ripped out the interior and found a next to new cab interior from a 993 that I think that I can make work. I've also found some extra black pipe (gas pipe) left over from a construction job and will have that welded into a super cool and safe rollbar.

I also have a great set of sits from a 914...could I put them in? They are very light weight and also look like new style Recaros. Tough call on this one.

I've been talking to the guys at Revozport and they've been extremely nice about the whole thing. One of my best friends builds boats so he'll be helping me with the meshing of the Classic body to the new carbon fiber parts...I think that at the end, I'll have something unique and beautiful. The engine and transmission will be left alone, after all...I don't track the car so it'll be fast enough.

What color should I paint it?

Should I go with Fuchs or something more modern? I think the Fuchs are very modern looking but a bit thin. I think that i'll add aggressive spacers and push them out, that will give it the "business" look. Otherwise, I'd spend 800 on a set of 20's and it'll be good to go. nothing larger than 20's...otherwise too cheese-ball for me.

If you care about selling it in the future, I'd keep the car original. Your idea of beauty and what is cool may not mesh with a potential buyer's concepts of those ideals.

But as many say on this forum, "it's your car, do what you want with it".

If I had a '73T, I'd keep the body stock, but probably start investing in suspension, a larger engine (while keeping the original one to drop back into the car) and other performance parts. More bang for the driving experience buck than add-on body modifications.

But that's just me.

+1 Please keep it original outside and make it a lightweight sleeper hot rod with a 3.0 and a few wicked suspension / braking improvments . I think your $$ would be far better spent that way. Bit if you do decide you must then good luck.

I think you should call Motor Meister to have a peek at that motor and make sure it's up to snuff

This part tipped me off it may have been an April fools joke.

This really sounds like a great project...but why limit yourself to 20's? Everything else you've described will be super cool....why so small. Have some wine with that cheese-ball.

I hope that this is an April Fool joke. I was reading along thinking it was a bad idea until I got to the gas pipe roll bar part. If this is not an April Fool joke, please stop this guy before he hurts himself and his Porsche!

You don't have to travel very far to find good tequila when you live in the SW......obviously...

Now I might just part my car completely, having suddenly become totally disillusioned with the Porsche community; free stuff, just pay shipping. Gotta make room in the garage for my new Kia.....
