Dear fellow Porsche rebuilding sufferers, your help please:
My son and I are rebuilding a 1974 911. We are fixing ancillary components and have a small problem. The heater motor is kaput as the Germans would say. We have removed the motor, fan and housing from the car and the motor from the housing. The motor is too messed up for rebuild. We bought a Bosch replacement motor 0 130 007 002. Of course Bosch doesn’t appear to make the old model. The new version is dimensionally different and now includes some plastic adapter rings assembled to the stator. The new motor does not fit in the yoke as did the old one. The spring steel straps cannot be used as per the old motor. I’m thinking that the motor we bought is a universal model for several cars. My guess is that the plastic shrouds are designed to be removed as appropriate. No instructions were included with the part. If anyone has experience with this issue, please advise what you did. Picture of the new part is attached. Thanks in advance. Cheers, Mike ![]()

I have a similar situation and also am wondering about this. I'd rather not hack up my motor without knowing that I need to do this!

Is that motor from our host? I believe the one sold here is a direct replacement.

![]() Many thanks Targa.. our host's stock motor is aftermarket. The original is Bosch and the model we bought is Bosch's idea of a direct replacement.. save possibly being a universal adaptation to keep their costs down.. host's pic follows ![]()

That looks like a much better fit.

Not sure that the fit is that good on the host's part.. I can't see where the flange mates. Perhaps this is the motor put in an engine compartment located heater fan in years following '74. Thanks for your comments.

the first pic is the motor for the fresh air fan in the box in the cowl. the other pic is the heat blower on the engine. i get those FA motors all the time and they fit fine, clips work too. maybe it isn't clocked in, or in all the way or you haven't figured out how the clips work. patience.

John
Do the clips attach to the metal frame of the fan, or the notches in the plastic casing. Also, is there a trick to getting it to lock in? |

Cheers, Mike
