Willing to wait...

This is a great forum! I am in agreement with what a lot of you have said. Paypal has not yet refunded the $$ to me. If they do, and then the grill arrives, I will resend the $$. I have never had anything take up to 6 weeks as a few of you have mentioned.
I want to apologize to Griffinroydonal for jumping the gun & also being rude. As he said, "Even old dogs will bite when you kick them for no reason". As I said numerous times, I know it's not his fault. I will wait a few more weeks.
I'm usually OK with the brokerage from FEDEX & UPS, as they do offer "real" tracking.
As one member pointed out, posting my personal info did not sit well with me and if possible could it be removed as I am now aware of the proof Griffinroydonal has provided.
This is no excuse, but, I have been scammed in the past, when an empty box showed up one day. The seller showed proof of shipment & I thought all was good. I did not like the feeling of possible being bitten twice.
Thanks to everyone for their input.

I don't think Paypal CAN take money directly from your account without specific approval. Unless you're referring to your Paypal account. Yes, then can, and do, do that.

I purchase lots of stuff, mostly from the US, from private parties shipped via USPS. Some takes a loooong time to get here while other things show up in as little time as a week. Please don't base your opinion on one twitchy purchaser. I think most of us are pretty understanding and experienced in what is often the norm with the postal system and can tolerate a reasonable amount of time for delivery.

Griffinroydonal 04-03-2011 08:47 PM

When the Grill arrives and I am sure it will, Please just send it back to me. I will send PayPal for the postage and you can ship it the same way I shipped it to you as I am in no hurry and promise not to bug you with P.M.s every several days with the chance you might miss one and start a problem.

I found you a Grill as you had stated in one of your PM.'s you were looking for another
one.

Here is some information about shipping to and from Canada by mail. Shipments enter and leave Canada via two ports. Vancouver or Toronto. So depending on where the item is shipped from in the USA it all depends on which port it enters Canada and then it is sent on it's merry way across the country.

Now add in the fact the Customs and Canada Post are both under contract negotiations (expect a summer strike) and yes it can take 6 weeks for something to arrive.

I still do not see why the tracking number provided does not work for you. I just bought several items as mentioned earlier and they came USPS and then Canada post. Tracking numbers worked right up to my door, usually updated each night with their new location. I can usually predict which day the mailman will drop in for a visit. I would try the tracking number provided again. A tracking number that stops bat the border is stupid. Its just a barcode and does not matter which country scans it.

Canada Kev 04-04-2011 07:37 AM

Something else I didn't think of before: try the tracking number on both the Canada Post and USPS sites. They will both accept it and can give different results.

Griffinroydonal 04-04-2011 08:21 AM

Would you please post a link to the Canada Postal service please. I really think they should be able to track all the way to your door.
In the U.S. we have the Delivery Confirmation Service and for $.80 they have a bar code sticker that tracks 100% . I made an appointment and asked the Post Master why this could not be applied to International orders. No real answer was ever provided and that was when we found out the Customs Declaration receipt would show as input in the system. Nafta and all the free trade agreements should address all the issues between the countries and not just the ones which give a monetary kickback to a select few. Canada the U.S.A. and Mexico could be treated as one shipping zone and customs be easier to deal with.

Still waiting on word for the Engine grill. Has a new record for slow and sloppy been set?

petercory 04-14-2011 06:09 PM

Next time, ship via UPS,; most Canadians don't like it because of the additional brokerage charges, but you can easily track the shipment!

I've purchased quite a few things from the US and USPS is the best way to ship. No problem tracking. As soon as USPS says your shipment arrived in Canadian customs use the same tracking number on the Canada Post site. UPS and Fedex charge about a $50 brokerage fee plus any duty and taxes.

I sold and shipped a 911 engine e grill to a Pelican in Canada. I was told from the U.S. Post office that tracking was not available on International shipments. I packed and shipped the grill and was given a Receipt and Customs Declaration - CN22 - Tracking # LC752207795US that can be tracked at USPS - The United States Postal Service (U.S. Postal Service)

This shipment was made on March04 2010 as indicated in all the paperwork. The buyer contacted me every week wanting to know where the grill was and I have no way of giving an answer. I went to the post office and was told that 30 days must have passed before they would get really concerned as Canada didn't have tracking for packages entering their country. The buyer has contacted me as if this is my fault and wanted a refund. I forwarded all tracking info I had and waited. He was not happy with this effort on my part and now has filed a complaint aginst me with Paypal.

Paypal withdrew the funds from my account and has put them on hold pending an investigation. I have recieved another e-mail requesting a refund from the buyer. I have no intention of making two refunds and then the item show up in Canada. My question boils down to this - Has this ever happened to anyone else with international shipping ? and how did / would you handle this. I had been warned about shipping to Canada but didn't listen and was trying to just move some parts.

Moderator's edit: Removed image with buyer's personal information.

Do you mean march 4 2011, because 2010 was a while ago to still be trying to figure this out. If you mean 2011, i would try to wait it out for a little while and then get back to the post office

Actually yes Paypal can withdraw money from your bank account that is linked to your Paypal account if they made that deposit earlier...:(
Happened to us after an eBay customer simply stated that the item was not as described... and without any kind of investigation to verify facts first.

Update - I have been robbed by Paypal and Targa 871. The people at Paypal have refunded the payment of $75 to the buyer and I am out the shipping out of pocket for the engine grill. I have no doubt that the part arrived at the address shipped as shown in the documents for shipment. I have sent messages to the buyer that he has not answered. This is a scammer in the worst form as he knew when he started asking for a refund after 2 weeks what he was doing. I would like to caution anyone in the U.S. from dealing with or selling to this buyer as my fate could have been yours. I have learned a lesson from all this, If you can't track it - Don't ship it .

carslutt 04-26-2011 08:58 PM

why get so upset over slow shipping on a deck lid grill, do targas not run properly in canada without an deck lid grill?

i shipped some parts to CAN last year, took over 2 months to get delivered. the buyer was upset for a while then apologized once the box was delivered.

hope this works out.

I have a spare grill in king city, on.

Still no grill. I have not contacted Griffinroydonal because he asked me to no longer contact him. I have mentioned numerous times that if the item does arrive I will refund the money. I also said I would cover the shipping costs as I know it was not his fault. What else can I do?

Griffinroydonal 04-27-2011 06:25 PM

I am someone who has been unemployed for the last two years and have been tearing down cars to make ends meet. The money does not sound like much to most people but to the ones like me the $75 went a long way. The loss of the additional shipping out of my pocket just added insult to injury as that was out of my pocket. I have found a new job and will be able to pay the bills. I have not listed much for sale after this as I could not have Paypal making decisions as to buying groceries or not.
