Question Single Turbo Converted 3rd Gen Rx7 vs a Supercharged 911 SC

Ok my cousin wanted to know if a Twin Turbo RX7 converted to a single turbo could beat a Supercharged 911 SC 0-60? They do make superchargers for SC's right?

I am sorry for this kind of question so please dont flame me http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/frown.gif My cousin and I want to know. If an Sc cant could a 3.2 carerra supercharged do it?

my normally aspirated 3.2 will kick any Rx-7's @ss sideways. I have "Kneel before Zod (you sodding ricer)" on my license plate.
In fact, last time I was hitting the straightways from LA, a Viper challenged me on a long stretch of road. I slammed it into 2nd at around 40mph and left him in the dust.

Then, an insane jerk-off in 993 twin turbo was looking for a beating at a light on Ventura. Without so much as a grimace, I smoked him and waved out the window as I sped off.

Kurt: lol

Raf944: You're asking a question about two modified cars which is very hard to determine because there are obviously other variables besides a single turbo and supercharger. However, I'd put my money on the RX7.

Yeah, I'd place my bets on the rice rocket. I was in the import drag scene for a few years before seeing the light (no not stickers and wings, serious HP Turbo Talons) and I can affirm that Supras, RX-7's, and the other high dollar, high HP cars are not slow, and can easily be made silly fast. However, I have yet to see a Supercharged Carrera go, but it is still 80's technology vs. 90's technology. They weigh about the same stock, but the RX-7 stock has a huge poewr advantage. Modding can change all of that, but I have found that a car which started stock as a turbo is generally more modifiable than an N/A car turned turbo (one comes stock with the right compression, knock sensor, etc). Sorry but Porsches were never meant to be drag cars. They are fast, some (such as the turbos) are very fast, but where they shine are braking, handling, and reliability (the rice cars are also known for grenading when making that much power).

A normally asperated 3.2 can beat a Viper and a 993 twin turbo?

No... Sarcasm is Kurt's strongest attribute.

Screw drags! Put'em on a racetrack and the 911 will win.

Hello

Dump quest will snoopys doghut be faster then garfield jumping on food ?

Now as you donīt state what you compare it is uncomparable. If you compare stock cars from the factory it is possble but hell I donīt know the quality of the tuning from both cars.

Just like ask; If you put 100 pond TNT under the car witch will fly higher.

My opinion is that a RX 7 3d gen will blow every normal aspiratet Porsche and most turboed Porsches too.
Its a real bargain in its class.

Now if you turn the screw on them they will get faster and the engines die faster. Similar thing if you supercharge a SC.

Just ask how far will they come until the engines explode.

What's funny about both the car and the question is the disparity between the machines. I just checked out the specs for all Rx-7s. They don't even start to complete with my '84 Carrera until after 1991 when they start slamming in at over 250HP. But the best of the old bunch, 89-91 Turbos still clock in at 6.5 second 0-60 which, for a turbo, blows.
You have a turbo. The engine ain't gonna last forever, and all you get is 180 something HP? Come on!

Once again, the Japanese couldn't make a classic if they were given a disassembled 911 (I'm ripping this quote from somewhere, don't know where).

I had a 93 RX7 TT, bought new, kept stock. The car screamed from o-150 mph! Handled beautifully, but brakes sucked. The car was basically plastic everywhere-very light. I wouldn't be betting against it in a straight line race. The shifter was miata-like, very quick and hard to make a mistake. Grandma could beat our 3.2s in a straight line. I really liked that car-it didn't and still doesn't seem "rice" to me. I don't know-who cares! My Carrera is a much more personal car to me. I like to drive and the Carrera is always happy to oblige.
