I also have a '72. Two weeks ago the high beams would come on sometimes and to keep on only the low beams I would have to hold the turn signal stalk slightly towards me. The other day the turn signals just quit working, as well as the flasher. To fix the high beam issue, I read here on Pelican about either changing the switch or bending the contacts so they are not as close, but I think this is unrelated to the signals not working. My fuses are fine. When I turn on either the left or right turn signal, the correct light bulbs (front and back) turn on, but none intermittently flash. When I turn on the flasher, I hear the tick tick, tick tick of the flasher inside the car, but no light bulbs turn on or flash. I pulled the steering wheel and found a brown with white stripe wire going from the combo turn signal/headlight switch going behind the dash but not connected to anything. I could not find a matching wire it should connect to. Can anyone point out the wire this should be connected to? I also pulled the flasher switch and found all wires were solidly connected to it (I did not trace it to each of their ultimate connections). I could not make heads or tails of the electrical diagram in the manual I have since not in color and poorly illustrated. So, sorry I can't give you the answer, only the symptoms. Here's hoping you solve the riddle.
