Can you use spacer and adapter? Factory TL wheel spacer question.
OK, new to Porsches, but had a thread started last year. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/567149-wheel-spacers-widebody.html
Car is a factory M491 with 8" rear Fuchs. Finally got her out of storage and took the rear wheel off. It does have the 28 mm rear spacer from the factory as Bill stated. (Thank you!) If this is the case, and I want to push it out an additional 3/4 inch, can I keep the spacer and add an adapter, or do I have to remove the spacer and add a larger adapter? The studs measure about 2 3/16 inches. Thanks in advance for the help. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1301926213.jpg |
You really do not want to do that... find a 1 piece solution. If you have an open lug nut you can check your stud length by determining if the stud pokes through with a wheel mounted on. If you see a thread through the hole you are fine. Alternately, you may be able to find a nice lady to check your stud length... there are some online services that will help you with this ;) ;) ;)

Thank you, If I remove the factory 28mm spacer and buy the 2" adapters Pelican Parts - Product Information: PEL-WS-002 available from our host, my next question is:
If the studs are more than 2" (they are 2 3/16"), won't they "stick out" past a 2" adapter and cause the wheel not to sit all the way back? |
Depends on the wheel mating face. With Fuchs there is open space between the petals so the studs go into the space. With other wheels some have a solid ring and others dont... FYI, PCA does not allow adapters at DEs. They will allow spacers. Adapters have 2 sets of lugs and the inner set cannot be torque checked at tech line so no go.
