Toyo Proxes T1R reviews

I have an 85 Targa and I have a set of 7 and 8 Fuchs at Al Reed's shop getting redone.I was looking at putting on Toyo Proxes T1R 205/55/16 up front and 245/45/16 in the rear.Any feedback on these tires for summer street use?

I put a set on my 85 last summer....did about 3000 miles on them, including about 4 autocross events and a lapping day. Tires held up very well, and were a vast improvement over the (old) all-seasons that came on my car (Toyo Proxes TPT). My sizes were 205/55R15 and 225/50R15.

I'd have no problem recommending them.

I have Toyo T1Rs on my car and I like them. They are not great in cold weather and in the Pac NW we just don't get enough warm days to get these tires up to operating temp. Having said that, they are great fun when they are warm!

I just put them on my 944 Turbo and I'm very happy with them.

225/50 on the front and 245/45 on the rear.

You are pretty limited when looking for 245/45 16's, but Toyo's are the best available in that size.

No complaints from me.....

Cheers,

Geoff.

I have 15k miles on:

205/55 16 front on 16x7
245/45 16 rear on 16x9

They are great street tires much better than the Michelin Pilot Sport AS I had on before. Good grip when dry. Initially good in the rain too. Recently I have broken the rear end loose with some spirited cornering in the rain. I like them enough that I'll probably buy another set when the time comes.

Go with 225s on 8s, the 245s are too wide for 8s, but great on 9s.

I've had a few sets of T1Rs. My only complaint was that they didn't seem to have a very stiff sidewall. I would put 225/50/16's on those 8's.
They were a good tire for the time, but I think there are better tires available now, ie Dunlop Direzza Star Specs.

I have exactly that setup on my "88 and I'm happy with them. They seemed to take a long time to break in, felt pretty greasy for 300-400 miles, but then they started to grip better. I've done 2 track weekends with them and they performed well. I liked the Yokohamas I used to run better, but that 245 size is no longer available in anything but the Toyos.

I've got the 205/55/16 - 245/45/16 on 7"& 8" Fuchs. '81 SC in the moderate N. Cal climate. After about 3 thousand miles I think they're great. They stick well but transition smoothly - very secure tires, and as a bonus, road noise is low (at least now while they're new). Concerning the rim width for the 245's, 8" width is right dead in the middle of Toyos recommended specs. Again, I like 'em just fine.

I have 205/55/16 on 7's in front and 245/45/16 on 9's in back on an 83 SC. They are working good for me. Also, a thrifty friend pointed out another advantage of the Toyo's, if your tires tend to wear faster on the inside edge, the Toyo's can be swapped between wheels to put the deeper tread on the inside and give you more miles on the rears.

I"m about to order two rears for my 88 911, 255/40/17
My fronts are fine, got some bad wear on the rear though. This will be my third set on T1'Rs
Not many choices with my size. The Toyos's seem to hold up fine, no issues.
I'm lookin g to order here...
