Brake light switch- pedal switch or master cylinder
When I installed a new master cylinder on my 69 it came in the a configuration with the brake light switch on the cylinder. The old cylinder does not have the switch on it. It is mounted on the pedal cluster. Can I reroute the brake light wires from the pedal cluster to the cylinder switch and power the brake lights from there. Is the cylinder switch more desireable, is it more reliable etc...

On all non-boosted cars, the switch to operate the brake lights is pedal-operated. The switch on the master cylinder is for the failure warning lamp on the dash. The only rewiring that might be needed is trivial ... single contact switches vs double-contact switches! If your car had a single-contact harness and you got a double-contact m/c, then you need to run a brown wire to ground for the 'extra' contact.

Well, I just learnt something,..... again, thanks. If my old m/c didn't have a switch in it can I assume there is no brake warning light. This might sound like a stupid question but I haven't got this car on the road yet since I bought it so I'm unfamiliar what I have on the dash, I have a feeling , being a Canadian car there might not be a circuit,
