100 Octane straight from the pump. Nor Cal
I'm probably late to the party on this but in my search for discovering race gas out here in the Granite Bay/Roseville area, I found a place in Wheatland off Hwy 63 that sells 100 octane right out of the pump. Theres also a few Union 76 stations in Sacramento that have it. And I thought all we had was 91 octane out here in Cali?

Do they let you pump straight to the vehicle or do you have to dispense to a portable tank?

Cool. I'll check it out.
I live just up the road from GB off Auburn-Folsom Rd. Look for me in a prussian blue 911 or midnight blue Cayman S. Sometimes a dark blue Ram 1500 with shell or a red Audi TT.

It is unleaded race gas to it is legal to just dispense into your car. Not that it will do any good if you have your engine set up to take advantage of it ( advande timing, high compression, turbo etc.).
I've seen people with stock cars pumping 100+ octance gas at the track thinking tthey are gaining horsepower. ![]()

Here in Oregon I found a source of 92 octane no alcohol unleaded that sells for about 25 cents per gal. more than gasahol 91 octane premium. With the better mileage of no alcohol, I figure the cost is a wash, plus gaining an octane point.
NOT a waste of octane in my '09 Bullitt model Mustang. Mustang GT's of the same year are tuned to regular. The Bullitt models only have a dual "tune" with a power gain experienced on premium. Says so right in the owner's manual. ![]()

There is another 100 station outside of Tracy off of 580 between where 205 splits and where it hits highway 5.
My motor picks up 15 whp going from 91 to 94 octane, another 15 whp between 94 and 100. Someone needs to make a map of all the SF bay area stations. If we can get a list of addresses here I can try and do that.

I never thought there'd be a day where driving by the 76 gas station would remind me of the gas price - i paid $76 yesterday to fill up with their premium gas. Bullet is worth it, but it sure is pricey nowadays

Sort of true, in that there is a point where it no longer helps. However, a lot of our Porsche engines are made to use 93 octane "real" gas but the computer can dumb things down enough to run on 91 octane "alco-gas". I usually mix the two to end up ~94-95 octane. Anything above that is just throwing money away for my car. I can feel the difference, it's not a subtle thing. |
