Green Horn questions

Hello,

Total newbie here to both forums and this one which I am learning alot from. Here is my question. I have the opportunity to buy a 1977 911 with less than 33,000 miles, thats right 33,000 miles with one owner. Completely original. The car is in NC and I am planning on bringing this car to WY in the next few months. My questions are:

can I take off the emissions system? At least all the stuff I will not need in Wyo as we do not have to have an annual vehicle inspection?

Where is a good mechanic in Wyoming?

I don't plan on driving this too often as it will be a weekend car for myself. I would like to keep this car as orginal as possible but what should I do to the engine if anything? I read that these engines were not the best years.

I check my computer daily at night so I will see if there are any replies tomorrow.

Thank you your thoughts,

Kind regards,
Reid

Price? Condition? Paperwork history to back up the low miles? How many owners? Complete professional Porsche inspection?

Consider buying a SC or Carrera?

SMOG stuff? I'm not sure in your state.

Thank you Steve for your thoughts. I should be a bit clearer on the car. The car is a friends and I was with him when he bought the car from a "dealer"-the original owner of the car in 1991. So my friend is on paper the first owner of the car as the tittle was a dealer tittle prior to my friend buying the car. My friend has keep the car factory and may have done more damage to the car because he never drives it. I have driven the car numerous time over the past 20 years and it is in great shape and run well. but not being an experienced Porsche person, I just don't have the knowledge.

I know the year is not the best due to the engine and I'm sure a few other things. but I'm damn near stealing the car for under $7,000.00. I'm assuming I'm stealing it.

So I'm interested in trying to extend the life of the engine. And anything I can do to do this legally I would be game for. I know I will drop another engine in it down the road at some point but for now what can I do? I understand that the emissions/ smog systems bring alot of heat to the engine so I'd like to pull/bypass as must as that stuff as possible.

Any thoughts on this or anything else I should do.

And I will for sure get it inspected by a Porsche mechanic.

Thanks again,
Reid
