Crap did I order the wrong sender?
I just received my care package from our host and I think i may have ordered the wrong sensor. My car is an 83 sc 3.0, My gauge cluster has the numerical sensor but, the new sending unit looks different than what i have on the car now.
The reason I think its the wrong one is because the connectors are different. If this isnt the correct one can someone shed some light and tell me what part I do need? the new sensor: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...s/IMG_2581.jpg the old sensor: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...s/IMG_2586.jpg my gauge: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...s/IMG_2591.jpg |
Thats the oil temperature sender for all 911 through 76. The 77 and later one is a chrome 911# and needs the matching guage

I understand that this is the 74-76 unit. I was under the impression that, one of the previous owners of the car did a gauge swap/ retrofit. Is the gauge i have just the normal one then? Do you happen to know the part number I need because I cant seem to find it at least the correct one for my gauge.

According to PET:
901-741-632-00: 911 1965-69 901-641-632-00: 911 1970-76, 1978-83 (SC) 911-606-112-00: 930 1974-89, 911 1977, 1984-89. That looks like an "early" (76 and before) numerical gauge insert - (both my '77 gauges go to 340 degrees). I bet a beer you have the correct sender for that gauge.... My 930 sender, although a different part to yours, has the same end as your photo, the female spade on the engine harness fits on it just fine. Maybe they swapped over to that fitting (I can see the male spade breaking more readily than that shape). |
Crap did I order the wrong sender?
Or ---- did they send you the wrong order??? LOL!!! |
The back of the gauge will have a date stamp and the face should have a serial number....

The gauge? Back dating to ME means you use an older gauge in a newer car. The gauge's date of manufacture wouldn't change...and no one changes out the guts.....
Senders and gauges are matched.... |
Sorry "Retrofit".

Does anyone know what year the 120*-300* temp gauge was in?
