Please help diagnose my 1977 fuel problem
Hi - hoping someone can help me get started.
I just got my 1977 out from its winter nap (upstate NY) and it was driving fine, but then started occassionally having a sudden and complete drop in the RPMs. Sometimes it would recover quickly, but sometimes it was really bad and once even shut down the engine. And some loud pops when the engine got fuel again. I hobbled it home, but need to get working on fixing it before any driving more than just around the block. Is my fuel pump starting to go or is this a CIS issue, or both, or something else? I appreciate any help on where to start looking. Thanks, Howard, Saratoga, NY

Fuel problem
First question I have is,how long did the car sit?
Run some fuel injector cleaner through the system. |

How long has the fuel been in the tank? Thanks to the 10% ethanol in fuel, moist winter air condensing in the tank quickly leads to water build up. After several months sitting, you could be sucking water through your fuel system a few milliliters at a time. Add some fuel injector cleaner per Jess p. Run the tank close to empty and refill with fresh fuel, more fuel injector cleaner and report back.
