Question about Strippers ?

I did search the numerous topics on Painting Fuchs prior to asking this, apologies if I didn't find the correct thread, but i found nothing pertaining to my question.

The PO on my car painted a strange pattern on my Fuchs. Its a very amateurish job. Since i had to source a replacement 8" rear Fuch for one that was damaged, the one I got from the F/S section here came beautifully polished and painted by Al Reed.

I was planning on doing the Economy RSR look for all four , but the wheel with the Al Reed polish is so great looking I'm thinking i would just strip the bad paint off the remaining 3. The polishing appears well done and matches : My question is what will happen to the polished surface if I apply Aircraft stripper ?
Can i preserve the polish that's presumably under the paint or do i need to re do the whole wheel.

Paint over it.....the Wurth rattle can semi gloss black is a match if I recall.

I had the same thought as JoeBob, I spent about 5 hours masking off my polished lips and pedals, then took some 0000 steel wool to the painted silver where there should have been black (?) Then sprayed.

I say you do the same till the other 3 match the purty new one. They are pretty nicely polished, why mess with it.

I don't know about the amateur quality to the PO's paint work, because I can't really see it. However, I like the PO's experiment with a different paint pattern. Too many are too rigid in their thinking about Fuchs wheels. If it isn't like the original paint pattern people often hate it.

This is peculiar, because those same people have no qualms about all sorts of other modifications to their cars, but the wheels are somehow sacred. Why is this? The original Fuchs shiny pedals with a black surround is no great work of art. I always thought the things were ugly, but they are original and, consequently, untouchable in the eyes of many.

To me it's very funny.
