Radar detector detectors ALERT
Just received this from Nat'l Motorist Ass.
Dear NMA member, This is a warning for all radar detector users. The NMA recently learned that there is a new wave of radar detector detectors on the market. These devices actually exceed the capabilities of the previous VG-2 detector. This new technology is enabling law enforcement to detect your radar detector. We realize this may not be a problem to most drivers. However, this can be a big problem for commercial truck drivers (who are prohibited by federal law to utilize radar detectors) and to anyone traveling in Virginia, Washington DC, and some parts of Canada. These areas prohibit the use of radar detectors and with this new technology, the police will know if you have one or not. While this is not earth shattering news, the NMA hopes that this will help drivers avoid the citations in areas where detectors are prohibited. Thanks Ron, yet another small example of living in the "land of the free", where our government protects us from????

at least we got a "warning" :)
other than the fact that law enforcement can be pretty irritating when having fun, in the land of the free that's one of the prices we have to pay (if you live in d.c. or virginia, which i don't). where else in the world can you drive coast to coast with the top off with the only worries being speeding tickets and mechanical breakdowns? someone in the aftermarket will come up with a way for the radar detector detectors to be detected by a radar detector detector detector. they're probably alreardy working on something.:)) bell 85'911 targa |
Where on the site was this, I didn't see it?

I've driven to a few Parades all over the country and I run two detectors front and read with two radar jammers. By the time you get the signal that you were scanned on your radar detector, your jammer was busy. Then you have your co-driver scramble like hell to get the electronics hid while slow down so you don't get the visual speeding ticket. OTTO

OTTO...I know the "Laser Echo" is effective for laser hits. Tested better than the Blinder M-10. Is the radar jammer you are writing about the routine stuff I read in mags. or on the laser/radar sites. I have a friend who is a real rocket scientist and he says a good radar jammer needs mucho power to feed it.

My friend told me about this incident she had with a police officer:
"Ma'am, my radar detector detector dectected your radar detector." "Whaaa?" This was back in the days when Conneticut made it illegal for use in the state. I guess they got rid of that law... -Wayne |
