Hi,
I'm trying to figure out the timming marks on my pulley. It's from a 79 3.0L engine (the one the the right). The other one is from a 2.7. Timming marks are on the back side of the pulley with no writing underneat them. just marks (see pict number 2). As i'll be installing the 3.0L in a 914-6, i wanted to figure these out and maybe make some small notches on the other side of the pulley so i can read instead of trying to figure them out! Any help appreciated. ![]() ![]() |

There was a thread about distributors about 19 moths ago which has most of the ignition information from the '72-'73 spec book, which included MFI engines, for which only your mark #5 applies ... the 'FE' timing mark (40° After TDC) for the injection pump belt.
http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5432 The other marks are as follows, and corespond to the marks in the following diagram from the above thread: #4 = 5° After TDC #3 = Z1 ... TDC Cyl #1 & #4 #2 = 30° Before TDC #1 = 35° Before TDC #7 = Z2 = TDC Cyl #6 & #3 #6 = Z3 = TDC Cyl #2 & #5 ![]()
