Engine Stand Requirements for 3.2L
 

I am looking to purchase an engine stand for my 3.2L Carrera engine... any suggestions on low cost functional stands. How much and where to purchase would be of great help.

Aaron,

I think the safest way to go is to get the 5 arm Porsche yoke to hold the engine Kinda expensive ($180) but it lets you work on the flywheel side of the motor while it's on the stand.

The yoke shaft is a standard size, so it'll fit in any old engine stand. A friend was able to locate a solid 1000 lb., four wheeled/legged stand at a local tool shop for $75.

A regular engine stand will work. Do a search on this board and you will find at least two threads on the subject.

I am using the Porsche Yoke on a $49.00 american engine stand.
Engine stand rated at 1000LBs The yoke fits perfect....

I use the yoke and a norco brand stand

Look for one with 4 wheels in a H or C configuration.
The 3 wheel T ones have a tendency to be a bit scarry.

I also used a standard engine stand ($55 CDN on special) I than made up an adaptor plate from .25" steel, drilled 4 holes to line up with 4 engine/transmission bolt holes. Cut 4 spacer tubes about 2.5 " long to clear the flywheel and mounted the engine to the "kiss plate" bolted to the stand. The only thing I can't get to in this configuration is the flywheel, If I removed it before I mounted the motor I guess I could get access to the seal. I would have to do that job with the engine on the ground. Don't have any pics but if anybody is interested I could get one this weekend. I'm doing a top end job. Total cost about $70 CDN ( $43 US) WOW, After all the parts I'm buying from the States I finally get ahead of the exchange!
