How smart is a CDI ignition box??
I found out that my ignition coil is shorted inside. Both the primary and secondary sides of the coil read 712 ohms on my 87 930.
Would a shorted ignition coil cause my CDI box to go bad? If makes sense to me that the Bosch Engineers would've considered that the coil might go bad and that the ignition box should be protected from this event. :D If I install a new coil will my CDI box work as it should or should I be looking for another CDI box as well? |
Crap shoot....buy a coil and see. If the box is bad, contact Ingo, 3.6@cox.net he has 3 and 6 pin boxes built and ready on an exchange basis.

Thanks for the tip to contact Ingo.
Ingo has indicated that it is not likely that I've ruined my CDI box by having a bad ignition coil. I thought that would be correct (see my initial post). |
Hope it works out.....he can also do a diagnostic on the box......

She runs... I simply needed a new ignition coil.
