Backfire and Rough Running

At Autocross yesterday, when I was restarting the car to make my run, I had a backfire and finally with the aid of the hand throttle, got the car running. It was not idling very well (rough) but did not seem down on power once I got on the loud pedal. I did not ethat while sitting in line, awaiting my turn, my oil temperature peaked at about 210-220.

At the end of the day, I drove home. The oil temperature dropped to 170-80. I expected to do some detective work to find my suspected vacuum leak from my now damaged air box (yes, I did have a pop off valve and it was seated properly at the track). Much to my surprise, when I got home, the car was idling normally as if nothing happened.

Any ideas on the cause of my temporary rough idle?

Could be that the Pop off valve did not seat properly after the back fire.
That would be some luck.

Ron:

I hope that was all it was too. Sometimes luck is the best tool in your tool box.
