Backfire and Rough Running
At Autocross yesterday, when I was restarting the car to make my run, I had a backfire and finally with the aid of the hand throttle, got the car running. It was not idling very well (rough) but did not seem down on power once I got on the loud pedal. I did not ethat while sitting in line, awaiting my turn, my oil temperature peaked at about 210-220.
At the end of the day, I drove home. The oil temperature dropped to 170-80. I expected to do some detective work to find my suspected vacuum leak from my now damaged air box (yes, I did have a pop off valve and it was seated properly at the track). Much to my surprise, when I got home, the car was idling normally as if nothing happened. Any ideas on the cause of my temporary rough idle? |
Could be that the Pop off valve did not seat properly after the back fire.
That would be some luck. |

I hope that was all it was too. Sometimes luck is the best tool in your tool box. |
