Coil and distributor wiring on '77

I'm in the process of attaching the engine wiring loom on my 1977 2.7. At the distributor one connector is connected to the distributor itself, but where does the round one go?

And the same question about the coil. I have two round ones and one goes to the coil negative side, but where does the other one go? The wiring also looks very home made. What color is it supposed to be?

The brown large connector is ground and there will be a ground from the negative on the coil to the stud under the coil Meter ground and you ll follow the system as the wiring is shielded and is ground.

HenrikL,

It would be nice to avoid confusion and restore the wires to their correct colors and routing. Once you figure them out, write it down and keep it in a safe place, because at some time in the future, you will have to deal with this again.

There are 3 wires going to the original CDI unit, two white wires and a red one.

1.) One white wire goes to the + coil (or transformer)

2.) The other white wire goes to the distributor points and the tach

3.) The red wire is +12 volts switched through the ignition switch on the dashboard.

Each of the white wires is wrapped with a grounded shield that is connected to the CDI unit case at one end, and the + coil white wire (#1) ground shield runs to the – coil terminal and is grounded on one of the posts that the coil mounts on, the other white wire (#2) ground shield is grounded on the engine near the distributor.

it looks like the red wire is crimped to the shield(GND) of the white wire to the coil. if it is, one terminal goes on the neg of the coil and the other is grounded.

GN/BK goes to tenp sensor
