There are a couple of guys currently selling R wheels on the Early 911S Registry classified page. I'm sure they could help.

Jim,
On the early flat fender 911s, the R7X15 were used with 10 mm spacers. The lip was rolled somewhat, though. GeorgeK |

I think it all depends on what tire and fender you have. For a 215/60 AVS on a 7x15 R Fuchs, I have seen a 10mm spacer work fine on '69-73 911. For the extra wide 225/45 Hoosier, I had to shave down the spring plate bolt that rubs, roll fender lips, install longer studs, and use 18mm (10+8) spacers on a narrow bodied '72. There are variances in these early cars however, so no hard and fast rules apply.

Proper spacers for 911R wheels
Listed in the factory parts list for the 911R (Nov. 1967 edition) are the following.
Rear wheel studs (10) part # 901.331.671.04 (size not given) Rear wheel "distance washer" (10) part # 550.42.121 (550 part # ?) This manual only lists the parts from the R which differ from the series cars, hope this info may help answer your question. |

Randy, a question...somebody, forget who, told me there was a fit problem on the right rear of the '72 for R wheels, something about oil line clearance and the forward oil tank? Did you have any problems with that?

Paul, sorry for taking so long to answer your question, but I lost track of this thread.
I had some very minor rubbing of the '72 oil line with the 10 + 7mm spacers (note correction from previously posted 10 + 8), but not anything major. This only occured with the extra wide Hoosier 225/45-15s on the 7x15R wheels. I did however move the thermostat wire from the left side metal clasp (which I flattened with a hammer) and rerouted this wire to lay behind the oil line.
