McLendons...a hardware store in the Seattle are has one that looks
Very similar but the push button is more rounded. The back looks identical.

That is either a Bosch or more likely a Hella Switch

The 911R had a wheel hub-cap sort of horn button, not this push button. I think you're thinking of a later car...

Wayne,
I have seen this button up close in Hershey, and it is indeed a rim center cap made into a horn button, to the point that I am about positive it is a home made button, not a factory effort. |

Matt is barking up the right tree. Here is a picture of 911R 11899019 ("Flash Gordon") that I took at Tony Callas' place. Horn push button is on the left lower dash over by the light switch. Maybe on this R, the horn button in the center of the steering wheel is just a close-out? Doesn't look like it has clearance to move in at all to make a 'toot':
![]() FWIW, the R owner'/operator's manual shows the horn push button in the same spot on the dash as the picture above. BUT I have seen pics of more than one R that appear to have a working horn button on the steering wheel (and made from a hub cap by all appearances). Just more evidence that no 2 R's were the same or they just got messed with by their owners like most 40+ year old cars...

searching
Thanks for the replies. I am after the dash mounted horn button that appears to be still available from Hella, although not in the US. I found the exact same switch with a white button, but no black available, as far as I can tell. After hours of searching I did find one with the black button available from an Australian Co. RKS Sales Welcome to RSK Sales | RSK Sales problem is they are Wholesalers. So now I'm looking for an Australian retailer that stocks this part.
![]() Thanks Again,

Found one. Made by Hella, in original box.
It arrives next week. |

George, do you know what the part # is? Are they still available from Hella, or did you find a NOS somewhere?

Jim,
I'll update on it as it arrives. I want to make sure it is the correct one. |

Got one. Seems correct. Original Hella, which was the supplier at the time.
Will the experts (I mean by this those who have sen a genuine 911R up close) pass judgement? I will have a source for them. about 40$ a piece ![]() ![]() |

Except it is convex, not concave, and that it has a black plastic surround, not alloy, it would do nicely. For a function, not for the correct looks.
