Shipping Engines ?
I live north of Atlanta... and I have purchased a project car near St. Louis MO. The car comes with a couple of core engines.
I have a transporter company who can move the car no problem (for less than my costs of going to get it renting a trailer and gas). The transport company however is really not equipped to deal with moving a couple of old engines. So, how do folks deal with this? I know engines and such things get shipped all the time but I have never done it. The seller (fellow Pelican who has been awesome to deal with) is willing to help lug the engines to a shipping point, but I have no idea really where to start when it comes to finding a company who can do this. Suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated! Terry

I did a lot of research and got many bids. Best result:
Engines Direct. Contact Kevin Schultz at: kschultz@enginesdirect.net All you need is the engine strapped to a pallet. They will do door to door, dock to door, door to dock, etc......For me: Home PU in Laguna Beach, CA to a dock in Seattle area. Cost $240. They picked up on a Friday and it was there on Monday. Highly recommend.

Put the engine in the cabin. Take out whatever you have to, to get it to fit. Then fit those components in other places or ship them. It's cheaper to ship two seats than an engine.
Also, you could have them quote you dock to dock. I assume you'll be in St. Louis for the pickup - maybe not - but if so, then rent a truck and take the engine to the freight center, yourself. Have it shipped to a freight center or freight terminal near your house and pick it up from there. The dock to door parts of the trip can sometimes really add to the price. I've always used FreightQuote.com and taken the cheapest bid. You'll recognize the company names mostly. They're the same as the one's you see posted on the sides of trucks on the freeway. Roadway, Mayflower, etc... Hal

I just sold my 3.2 and I believe the buyer paid close to $500. for NY to Az. I had to strap it to a pallet, cover it in shrink wrap, and attach 2 labels with the buyers address. That was for a liftgate truck door to door.
