Window adjustments

I was looking at the drivers side rear quarter/vent window, and it does not close all the way. Is there a way to adjust the window in the opening? It looks like the upper mounting location / hinge needs to be moved towards the front of the car by 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch. Is there any adjustment?

Time to dig up an old thread.

I too am trying to adjust the position of the opening rear vent windows. I also believe I have the same issue as the OP in that I need to move the top of the window more toward the front of the car approximately 1/8". This will also make the gap between the door and window parallel. What, and how is the positioning of the rear vent windows adjusted so that they can close properly and get an even gap?

Gap in rear quarter window

I also noticed that I had a gap in my vent windows on my 1973 911. They weren't closing all the way, as if the rear hinges weren't adjusted right. But there's no adjustment on the hinges. I pulled out the parts diagram, and found that there's supposed to be a spacer there. It's a small nylon triangle that fits under the hinge. With the spacer in place, the hinge pulls the windows in snug and I've got a nice tight seal.

The spacer part number is 901-543-491-21. They're available through our host for like five bucks. Hope this helps.

That's awesome, you never know what's missing if it ain't there.

I'll be checking Hershey tomorrow to see if I get lucky, otherwise ordering them on Monday. But if I decide to fake it today so that I don't get wet on my drive to Hershey tomorrow, how thick do you estimate them to be? A washer or two?

I'd say it's between 1/16th and 1/8th of an inch in thickness.

I'm no expert but I adjusted the 4 Allen screws on the vertical pillar to ensure that the window was a snug fit. They are under the vinyl. By pushing it out at the 'vertical' end of the window ensured that the hinge end seated nicely.
