Speedo Cable replacement?
I have to replace the speedo cable on my 69 911E.
Looks to me like I remove it from the transmission end, but it doesn't look like it will be easy. Does anyone have any tips on the best way to do it. I'm wondering if I should perhaps attach something to the old cable before I remove it in order to feed the new cable in. Any help would be most appreciated. Adam

adam, unhook it from the back, its tight but doable with channel lock. pull it out from the back, then pop the speedo and pull out the broken piece, it usually breaks rite at the head. take brake cleaner and flush the housing from ft to back, then blow air through it.then spray some speedo lube in. insert new cable from rear and slide it to the front. not a hard job at all.

So, if I'm to understand correctly, I can replace the cable without replacing the casing that it's housed in? As that would be a whole lot easier.
Thanks Adam

Great thanks...that's a relief. I figured threading the whole thing through the tunnel etc would have been a nightnare.
Thanks again

What's the procedure for removing the new cable from the casing? I stretched the cable out straight and tried pushing it out. At the other end I can't see how I could get anything on it to pull it out.
Thanks Adam

it has to be removed from the back (trans end) of the housing. it will come out, the lithium greese they put on it is just sticky, once you get it out a little, you can grab it with some needle nose pliers. maybe take a tiny optical screw drive to the slot and work it out a little until you can grab it
