Fuel Tank Storage?

I plan on removing and storing my 1973.5 cis fuel tank for about a year or 2. Since they are a half year only tank I want to keep it as safe as possible. I have already refinished the exterior. I have always stored it over the winters with a full tank and Stabil so the interior is in good shape. Can anyone suggest how to keep it rust free? Should I run metal ready through and purge the air out with something like nitrogen gas before I seal the openings?
Thanks for any suggestions.

I would just slosh a quart of MM oil thru it but if you want to get real fancy you could nitrogen purge it, seal it up and put a pressure gauge on it and put 5# in it then you can see if it holds.

I just read on the bodywork forum that automatic transmission fluid can be used to coat and prevent rust. Would this coat better than Marvel Mystery Oil. Would either hurt the swirl pot?

I guess atf would work but I do know that MMO will mix fine with gas, in fact its not a bad idea to toss a bit in your fuel at times.
