I'm sure this is a dumb question, but what is the "G" in the shift Knob pattern on that 959?

"The gear shift knob has the lowest gear ratio indicated by a letter G (for Gelände or terrain), with the remaining gears labeled 1-5 in a dogleg pattern, rather than a conventional 1-6 pattern. "

Just guessing, but maybe it's a locked position working with the key, part of the anti-theft/alarm setup? Maybe the "garage" position....gets used a lot... Then again, maybe it's for parking on a grade.... I'm out of guesses, having done no research.
Edit: Maybe I invented something, lol...6-speed? OK, learned something..... I'll read the article/sales pitch and write a check....

What does the gauge in place of the normal clock location tell you?

it looks like it tells you % of rear diff lockup and % of torque being sent to front wheels.

It was a way of avoiding some silly tax that would have been due if the box had 6 forward speeds.

the ad says it includes diagnostic tester, and I assume that is what the circled thing is. Either that or a bomb detonator.
