Recovering my Targa top

Looking for a reputable place to get a kit to recover my top,any suggestions?Read some old posts on it and think it's the way to go.I'm mechanically inclined and very patient so this will be an enjoyable project for me as I enjoy seeing great end results. So someone lead me to where I need to go.

Okay I've stripped it to the bare bones,no outer cover or inner headliner, need to clean off the glue and do some minor repairs to it but still need to know where I can buy the material for the outer top.I have a friend that can make the headliner but was hoping for a place to buy the vinyl top.Any ideas anyone??

Make sure you get the heavier non-domestic vinyl wherever you buy it. My domestic vinyl gets soft on a hot day and the top billows up at high speeds. I thought I had an air leak but from reading, a big part of the problem is the Bernnoulli Principal. Air rushing over the top sucks it up into the air.

Also consider Dan Pechtel for re-webbing your slats. Vintage Porsche Parts and Targa Tops for Porsche There is another fellow west of the Mississippi that does the same quality work.

Also read posts closely for the correct adhesive. The 3M stuff you get at Home Depot / Lowe's is not strong enough and glued down stuff will separate in the heat.

Replacing the windshield top seal? Make sure it is the correctly sized part. The part number for a brand new one will be too big and you don't want to trim it yourself.

I would certainly recommend having your top professionally done by Dan ant carsinnj.com There are other things an owner can do , but this is not a simple job and without a jig, not a good idea.

Cannot trade for experience in doing this and you only want it to be done once, even if your are handy.

I've watched Dan do one of these, he makes it look easy but he's done hundreds by his count. He's always got extra's ready, so he can ship you a replacement asap if you don't feel the need to get your original one back.
