Recaro SRD Install
I'm am looking at purchasing a set of Recaro SRD's for my 84. I have searched and searched and cannot find any good information on the install. Can you use the stock seat sliders for this seat and will they mount to the floor without any problems. I was going to tear the seat out this weekend but thought somebody must have done this before.
Any help would be appreciated. Doug |

Hey Doug,
I put an SRD in my '78 SC and used the stock sliders with no problem. should be a fairly quick install for you. Best, Craig |

I used adapters that I ordered along with the SRD's. The adapters mounted to the floor using the existing bolts and then the SRD's to the adapter. I think you can mount the SRD's directly to the floor, but not without some modifications.

I drilled new holes and use grade 8 hardware. The seats were 2.5 inches lower than my stockers.....

By what you all are saying, the factory sliders will bolt right to the seat and you have to drill
new holes to mount to the body? Lower is good! I am 6'4 and could use some extra headroom |

A lot depends on what's in you car now.
If it came with power driver's and manual passenger, then you can re-use the passenger side ,no problem, no drilling, no fuss, no mess. Probably the same for a manual driver's seat. If the driver's is power, than you have to source another set of double-locking sliders. Recaro and Sparco have nearly the same set up, and both are supposed to be 'bolt-up' to your replacement seats. I had to do some drilling in the new rails to match up to the bottom of the Recaro 'Speeds' (newer version of the SRD) An alternative is to find another manual seat from an 84 and use that slider on the replacement, keeping in mind that the slider release and the seat back tilt release, will be opposite (inside) orientation if it's from the pass. side. Another obstacle is going to be the seat belt receivers - but that's another thread. I just went through all this. Bill K ![]()

Bill, I have manual seats for both so they should just bolt in. What was the issue with the seat belt receivers?? Mine are attached to the floor so I was thinking they wouldn't be an issue at all? Am I missing something?

Doug, I just realized that 84 is different than 85, in that my receivers bolt to the seat, between the seat chassis and the sliders. With the central receivers in your's, you should be good to go -no problem (- I'm envious)
Sliders should mate right up also. If not, don't be afraid to drill the necessary holes in the top rail to mate up with the captured nuts in the new seats. keep us posted. Bill K
