What's this VIN #

I have two VIN numbers I cannot identify...hopefully someone can.

I'm rebuilding a 911 and have this number on the engine fan on my 3.0 replacement engine. Can anyone explain this number: 930 106 102 OR.

Also, I've replaced the rear "clip" and have this VIN 911 006 512 07

The "OR" is actually "0R"

It is a number used for castings and is not an orderable number. It is an internal number used by Porsche for assembly.

According to PET, the 911 006 512 07 comes back as a tire pressure sticker for a 1976 USA/Canada 911S

930 106 102 0R Part # for Fan Housing

911 006 512 07 Part # for Tire Pressure Decals

In the case of a Casting, their part # seem to finish with "#R"

For other part, the last two "##" is the Revision number

In the case of the Decals it goes from "00" to "09", funny there seem to be 2 "03" but no "04"

Scott,

Thank you for the help. Parts #...should have got that. Will the engine have a VIN# stamped on it?

Thanks,
Dan

It will have a number stamped on a vertical face next to the oil pressure sender unit. It resides below the fan and is visible from the right hand side of the engine when facing the front.

It will have a * and then some numbers.

The stamped number will not be a VIN number. It will be a series number that tells you what kind of engine it is.

On my '89, there is a decal on the bottom of the engine with the car's VIN number printed on the decal. I'm not sure about your car.
BTW, you may have to bust through some cosmoline to find the sticker.
