Evaporator Motor--Rebuildable?

Got the motor squeal blues and pulled the entire assembly out of the smugglers box with the task of replacing the expensive OEM motor. Out of all the great information on this forum about the A/C, which I have read, reread and printed, no one says "Took it to an electrical shop where they replaced the bearings etc." Once they make the noise are they garbage? Seems a shame to just toss it. One last thing...I wanted to verify after it was out that it was indeed making the noise, so I jumped the leads from a battery, it squealed for two seconds and now it functions silently. WTF??
