RSR bumper that fits SC flares??
Question,
I found a set of never used fiberglass bumpers that the seller says are for an 1974 RSR conversion. Wierd thing is, the sticker on the bumper says "RSR bumper - SC flares". I thought RSRs had turbo flares??? Has anyone seen an RSR bumper that fits SC flares? That should be RS bumper, no? |
There are too many different aftermarket bumper options to count, many styles have never been offered by the factory. You can get IROC and RSR style front and rear bumpers to fit narrowbody cars.

Ok, that's kind of what I thought. What this guy has is RSR style bumpers, not RSR bumpers. True RSR bumpers would need to fit wider flares.

Check with TRE, they have a lot of bumpers for all types of fenders.

The term RSR has been used a LOT to describe all sorts of parts that were never installed on a 74-76 RSR.
We should be using RSR style instead of just RSR, but that takes more precious breath each time too :D The bumpers you found have will mimic the shape of the original RSR rear bumper, but of course smaller (8" flare) to accommodate the SC/ Carrera flares. There was an RS in 1974, but it was the RS 3.0 and has the "RSR" style front and rear bumpers in 9 and 11" widths respectively. Do a search here for pics and details on that rare model in the meantime for your viewing pleasure: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1303951551.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1303951642.jpg "RS 3.0" style 9 and 11 inch flares |
Thanks, that look is what I am going for, I think. Originally I was thinking of a 73 RS look but the more I look at the 74 RS the more I like it. Seems like it preserves a little more of the short hood character of the car while still looking vintage.
