What bracket is this?

I'm removing my old Rear Sway bar brackets to make room for a pair of the Wevo items.... bit tricky getting the old ones off.
Can anyone tell me what this bracket is for? I'm thinking of removing this also as it will make it a lot easier to get to the Sway bar bracket.
Its located left rear and attachs to body and torsion tube.... could it be a fuel pump bracket?
1973 911 Coupe.

Looks like the support for the fuel pump.

Thought I would be mounting the fuel pump at the tank.... I don't see a problem in removing, what do you think?
Would it be removed on a 73 RSR?

Not sure about the 73 RSR... It's your car. Mount the pump were ever you like.
BUT What I would do is remove it gently. Don't just hack it off. Drill out the spot welds (if it has any) and use a chisel to break it free.

Then spray some oil on it and store it somewhere dry in your garage. ;)

Just a safety tip reminder. Jack stands "can" fail, so most of us (I hope) place the wheels/tires (or something) underneath the tub when she's up in the air like that.

fuel pump up near the tank on the F. X-member will be better for reducing heat soak problems

Brent,

The RSR didn't have that bracket since the fuel pumps were up front.

Good point re the Axle stands.... On a side note, we had a large Earthquake here on the 22nd of Feb, when I went to the shed to check on the car and stuff, I opened the door to find the cra on the floor, earthquake had rocked it right off the Axle stands !!!!
