Indy Tranny Repair for 915

I have a 915 in an 84 911 with a 3.6. I am experience 3rd gear pop out under cornering load. I have check all the mounts and they are fine. i have checked the linkage and it is fine. I have determined it must be internal. Any suggestions for a Central Indiana transmission guy for this old warhorse?

Further, I had a billet racing fork put in and the guy that did it indicated he tack welded it to the selector sleeve. That was about 200 track miles ago. This will be the third time I have had to tranny out in less then 1 year. I need someone that knows what they are doing. Any help would be appreciated.

Take it up to Midwest Eurosport in Joiliet, IL. Matt, the gearbox tech there is a tranny guru. He'll fix it and fix it right.

Two other suggestions, both easy driving distance for you-
Doug Hillman at VFC Engineering in Chicago, on the north side. He did my '86 trans two years ago including regearing it. Works like a dream.

Accumoto up in Madison, WI. Mark White's shop, his chief mechanic Doug has worked on more air cooled 911's than most during his career. His work is beautiful, and you can eat off any part of their shop it's so clean.

There are a few good air cooled guys in Indy. No need to drive out of the state to get your 915 serviced.

Farmers Automotive. Experts in Porsche performance and repair. Located in Greenfield, Indiana.
Indianapolis Auto Repair for Audi, BMW, Land Rover, Lexus, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Volkswagen, Volvo, Saab :: Euro Motorworks

Those are two of the best and they both build some fast track cars.

Gary Fairbanks in CT rebuilt mine. You can ship it to him via UPS and have it back in a week or two. He is OUSTANDING and the price was right for my rebuild.

All he does is 70s and 80s Porsche Transmissions!
