				72'MFI distributor in a 77'S carb motor?

I'm putting a 77' 2.7S motor into my 72'T Coupe. I'll be putting a set of 40IDA Webers as well as early heat exchangers on the otherwise stock motor. The motor doesn't have a distributor so I was wondering if I could use my distributor from my 2.4 MFI motor? I'm not sure if the distibutor is from a 2.4T or 2.4E motor or if it matters since they both have the same timing. It is a Bosch however not a Marelli. Before anyone says why. Let me just let you know that the 2.4 MFI motor is not a matching motor to the car which by the way is not an excellent example, just a daily driver. The 2.4 needed a total rebuild because someone rebuilt it with pistons that were past their wear limit. I am planning to sell the car and didn't want to sell it knowing that the motor was headed south despite seeming normal. I wouldn't be able to recoup my money on a rebuild so that's why the 2.7. I'll keep the 2.4 for my other 72' project car or I may just part it out. Also I think I may have to change the fuel pump to one of a more appropriate pressure for the carbs. I'll search the archives for other posts of people that have done a similar conversion to see what I've missed. Thanks Bobby | ||

Bobby, All of the 2.4 distributors were identical, except for the rev-limiter rotor fitted. And, the 2.7 CIS engines used the same distributor as the 2.4 T engine ... so, you are fine using your 2.4 dist.
