Wiper help

OK, of course it's been raining nonstop here for 4 days and of course my wipers just stopped working all of a sudden.
Doing a little investigative work I found the wiper pivot arm disconnected from the stem on the motor, nut must have come off. I can't find the nut, long gone. Anyway, I slipped the pivot arm back on the stem and tried the wipers to make sure all was OK, but the stem just spun around in the arm. I think it's stripped. Does it have to be fastend down tight? I'd of thought that would be bad as the arm actually needs to move freely.

In the picture you;ll see the tab that connects the wiper arm to the stem on the motor, it's that little slightly bent metal piece with the hole in it. I think that's supposed to have threads in it but it looks pretty clean.
If this is the case is there anywhere I can find on of those? Or is there a solution/fix?
Thanks, Mickey

You lost the nut from the arm that goes thru that hole.....find the arm by turn on the motor......reunite, put a nut and washer on it, tighten, put the gauge back in the hole....drive the ride....you can reposition the wipers to the passenger side if you prefer.

A common modification.

should be fastened down tight - the lever should rotate about the motor drive shaft.

While you are in there doing that, be careful not to dislodge the ground wire from the bottom of the wiper motor. This will also cause a big headache to try to find later. Otherwise fairly simple. The nut and washer that came off probably are somewhere on the floor...

As always, thank you very much! I'll get on it this weekend. I've been wanting to switch the wipers to the pass side anyway.
