951 fuchs on a 911 ?

Do the fuchs from an '86 951 work on a 911 ?
16x7/8
Anyone using this configuration ?

thanks

This excerpt from Bruce Anderson's book has some info but does not identify year.

Porsche 911 Performance Handbook - Google Books

In the search - advanced search function load in some search text like "wheel offset" and isolate on the 911 tech forum. Then grind through the posts. The search function does not recognize numbers so it's tough to get specific.

A few places to try:

The thread has some mention of the 951 Fuchs (check out post #12)

Search out Wil Ferch or Bill Verburg... they both seem to know a ton about wheel offset/backsize and spacers.

I use 951 7x16 on a narrow body all around

I believe that the 951 7x16 have the same offset as the 911 7x16 wheels, but have additional brake clearance.

The 951 8x16 have a different offset that allows them to be run up front on a 911 with wider tires.

SO -- the 951 8x16 are good front wheels for a 911 and you'd really want to track down a pair of 911 offset 9x16s to run in the back with appropriately wide rear tires.

They don't give them real 9X16's away as you probably know. They sure look nice, though.

carrera1 - I have 951 fuch's (7&8) on my '87 carrera. They fit fine w/o spacers, but the backs do not fill out the wheel well the way a normal 911 8" fuch will. (note - the PO rolled the fender edges)

Technically, you can put 1/2" (12.7mm to be exact) spacers in and you will have the same rear track as with 8" 911 fuchs. However, they will not look the same since the wheel design is different (not as dished).
