Oil Separator Leak

The hose at the bottom of my oil separator is leaking. After a drive there is oil sitting on top of the hose where it meets the separator. I've loosened the clamp and inspected the hose (while attached) and retightened, but no improvement.

I'm thinking there is a crack in the separator fitting or inside the hose.

Does oil stay in this line after shutdown? I want to remove the hose for a good inspection so I know whether to buy a hose or the separator, but I don't know if oil will come pouring out.

BTW, what is the purpose of the separator?

Thanks,
Steve

Is this on the 930 or the John Deere?

Sorry for the lack of details. I thought this was a common part since Pelican lists it for the Carrera and Turbo. This is on an 87 930, maybe I should have posted on the Turbo forum. The part number is OEM-93010732101 and here's a pic. It will be easy to fix, I'm just wondering how much oil, if any, sits in this tank after shutdown so I don't have a mess on my hands.

Joe Bob: "John Deere"...funny
