Air suction
Today I brought a can of carburator/choke cleaner to try to identify any leaks on my 1976 911s. I sprayed the cleaner around the intake runners where they connect to the engine. I found that when I sprayed three of the six runners, the cleaner was sucked into the cylinders since a huge plume of white smoke came out of the exhaust pipe. I tried torquing down the lugs but found they were already super tight. I assume this means that I have to replace these gaskets. I'm hoping that this may be what is causing the hesitation I have been experiencing under load. Can someone describe for me the procedure for replacing these gaskets. Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you sure it wasn't being sucked into the snorkle intake? I'd afix a 3 inch flex hose to the intake that is maybe 3 feet long to get the intake well away.
If you have to pull the runners, it is straight forward. Two bolts holding the base of each and clamp at the top. Some are tough to reach but all doable with the engine in the car. Seems unlikely that 3 are leaking and tight, hence my opening comment.

I'm talking about the air filter housing intake - the snout.
