Started for the first time....

Well I overcame my CIS low pressure problem, just bled the connection at the fuel filter connection (fuel out fitting) and the pressure came up enough the spray the injectors.

Then after verifying oil pressure, installed the plugs, and a once over and trying to remember what I forgot to tighten...................................it started immediately.

A tense moment for me since this in the first time that I rebuilt a Porsche engine. I am still shaking. I get this way when I fire off a new engine.

It filled the garage with smoke. I had to shut it down for the night.

I sure hope it stops smoking soon. I think its just the oil film that I lubed the cylinders with upon assembly. I will run it tomorrow and hopefully burn that oil out of there.

Sorry I rambled on, but its pretty exciting. Now lets pray for no oil leaks.

Congratulations... let's all pray to the ring gods tonight that things seat up correctly. I'm sure they will.

I'm a student too in the university sense and the Porsche sense... I also asipire to one day rebuild a 911 engine but it'll be a bit yet before I have the resources. Someday...

Congrats.

There are not many things more exciting then firing up an engine you just built. Well, there are a couple things. But damn, it's still pretty exciting.

I'm sure the smoke will subside with a bit more running. Keep us up to date.

I am praying to the used ring gods tonight. I reused my rings which had about 70k miles on them. All gaps and ring land clearance was good. I afraid to install new rings with used pistons. Bruce Anderson's book scared me using new rings.

I will run it more tomorrow. Hope all is well.

Chris
