ITG Filter / Charcoal Canister Hook up
 

I been loaned a pair of ITG filters for my 72T, on a sale or return basis. Been looking through the posts about the breather hook up etc but can not find any information about where (and if) I should connect the charcoal canister.

So how have you guys done it?

If it's a loaner, does that include the hole you may create for the breather as well?

One option is to drill a hole in the baseplate (it's aluminum), then use a grommet, hose connector and hose for PCV systems; sourced from your LAPS. May need an adapter to connect the different hose dimensions.

To avoid burping oil into the intake, I suggest you install a breather tank to vent crankcase>oil tank blowby pressure, then connect a hose from the breather tank to each ITG baseplate. The fuel tank breather hose could be routed directly to the breather tank as well.

Sherwood, thanks for the reply, and no it doesnt include the hole(s) I'll have to drill!! Just trying to work this out before I start messing and modifying.
So basically what you are saying is gas vent into catch tank, and the oil vent. Then two hoses out (like your set up) into each of the filters?
When drilling the base plate do I go through the filter material?

Something like this:
Oil tank/fuel vapor hoses > to breather tank (aftermarket or equivalent);
Outlet from breather tank; two hoses, one each to the base plate of each air filter housing. Many owners vent to atmosphere, but let's reburn it in the engine.

Holes through foam: No. Create appropriate inlet hole in each al. base plate.

just get a oil catch can /breather from Summit or Jegs and call it a day. No need to vent into your intake.
I have had no issues with fumes, etc with this set up...

Are you referring to the filters, catch can or both?

it will work better if you vent into your intake, tho that is not absolutely necessary

I saw a pic of an RSR that had the oil catch can made out of an old water bottle tank, does it have something to do with the size? This one has an an-16 size inlet which would work pretty well, size wise, for the 72 breather.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1304967284.jpg

note the large hose and hole for the oil vapor to go thru - that's just one "good idea"
