Porsche crest horn buttons for MOMO steering wheels?

What's the story on these? They are for sale on eBay. I have heard they only work on some MOMO steering wheels, but not all. I recently installed a MOMO Competition and am wondering if it will work. I asked the seller and they say it will work, but I'm not sure if I believe just yet. Anybody have an opinion or experience on this one?

I have the Porsche crest horn button I purchased from another website ( not ebay ) on my Momo Prototipo. Love it and it works great.

Back in the day, MOMO had permission to use the crest. Then they didn't....don't know the story, don't care.

NOS ones are bank. The eBay ones are assumed to be counterfeit.....buyer beware.

I purchased a momo race wheel and installed the crest from the ebay horn button. The ebay button was too big. I had to remove the crest and installed it in Momo button (fit in nicely). Not that difficult and looks great.

Cheers

I bought one for my Prototipo. The assembly didn't fit, so I pulled it apart and removed the horn tin. I put the tin inside a Momo horn assembly, and installed it in my wheel. The tin is just a hair too big for the Momo casing. It fits, but it's a little tight when reassembled.

The graphics aren't the greatest. As you may have noticed there are several different versions of the Porsche logo. I'm guessing this one must be the most recent, but I confess that I'm not exactly an aficionado of Porsche logo history.

Oh, and is it just me, or do these cars have the most dorky sounding horn ever? It's like a silly clown car horn or something.

Totally agree on the "dorky horn" sound, not very european car sounding. I've actually thought twice about using the horn for fear of ridicule. Picking up the Hella two (maybe three) tone air horn. The kit sounds great, is a German part and is only about $40.

Would also love the horn button but the crest a little looks sloppy?

It does, but to be fair this photo is pretty close up and revealing. It's almost impossible to see the scratches and flaws on the Momo steering wheel (I've never noticed them at all until I took this photo). From a driver's distance, it's hard to make out all of the subtleties of the logo graphics. Having said that, though, I will eventually break down and spend the $50-ish for a real Porsche button.

I decided to leave the Momo logo horn button that came with my Monte Carlo steering wheel on my '87 Carrera for the time being. It works great, looks fine, and came with the wheel. I can't imagine paying upwards of $50 USD for a Porsche-crested horn button. Plenty of other things to spend that money on, eh?

note: minor thread jack here...sorry but here goes:

Now, Vanderbott, about that upgraded (updated?) Hella horn kit , where did you find it it? Can you post-up your source? Is it Pelican Parts? Hope so...

Thanks!

Tim

Cheap repro crests look like crap....why debate it? Cheap repro MOMO horn centers....same same......you get what ya pay for.

As to horns....the newer twin Hellas kick booty.....I blasted a semi and he moved over.......musta not had his head phones on......didn't have to wave the spoon out the window.
