Power Lock Issue

i thought my passenger door lock actuator was bad. turns out that it works just fine.
the rod that goes from the actuator to the locking mechanism has a threaded end onto which threads on a white plastic end piece. that plastic piece snaps into a little ball on the mechanism. my problem is that the plastic "ball receptacle" broke and therefore the actuator rod does not move the lock.
i looked at the parts diagrams and found part # 964 537 571 00 which is the actuating rod but it does not specify if the end piece is part of the rod. when i look up the part # from our host it shows a plastic one piece rod that fits 964's and 993's. the one on my car is metal with threaded end pieces.
is it the same as for my 87?

I had the same issue. Yes, that is the correct part number. Here is the description from my order confirmation. It's a plastic part. Looks like they used it from 84-97,

964-537-571-00-M100 $4.25 2 $8.50
Central Locking System Door Operating Rod (Left or Right (2 per car,

I just replaced that locking rod in the passenger door of my '87. Used the part referenced above and it fit perfectly.

The lower part of the rod is held on with a small metal clip to the top of the electronic actuator. Unscrew the actuator from the door and you can then bring it to the bottom hole in the door to give you better access to remove the clip.

Once the rod is attached at the bottom, screw the actuator back in place and then just snap the top socket part onto the ball of the door lock mechanism.

excellent. i wanted to make sure that i ordered the right part. and since they are soooo expensive i may as well order a spare!
sorry about the no pic issue but my camera died and my phone pics don't work anymore for some reason. it doesn't recognize the pics as a pdf file although it is saved as a pdf in my documents folder. but that's a whole other topic.
thanks for the input.
