strange evidence and question
tearing down an 83 sc engine with two broken head studs. engine was running ok but under load the broken head studs were evident. the engine was supposed to be an unmolested original. while removing the intake runners i found one washer on an intake stud was non magnetic looked like an aluminum sealing ring. under the fuel injection were a couple of loose small washers.
i removed the screws that hold the air box halves together to check the seal and there was no seal the two halves were not bonded and separated once the screws were removed. i found no cracks or holes and the screws were tight, has a pop off valve. i don't think the box was blown. what is the best way to re-seal the halves of the airbox? the mating surfaces have a tongue and groove. |

Get a hand full of the small screws and some slow hardening epoxy. Spred the epoxy and start rescrewing the two halves together.
