Seat Belt Buzzer any other functions?
My Seat Belt buzzer seemed to be stuck on. I was working on the guages and found the black box behind the fuel gauge and took it out. No more buzz!
Just curious, is there any other function to this buzzer? If there is, do they go bad and should I just buy a new buzzer or would something else cause it to stay on? The seat belts work fine. Thanks

The buzzer has 2 distinct functions.
1) Comply with US (California) safety standards. 2) Annoy the crap out of the driver.

Just toss it in the glove box so IF you ever sell your car, you can re-install it and annoy the next owner.

My seat belt buzzer came on randomly due to a bad voltage regulator, if this is your symptom you might want to check it out.

Mine would just be on constantly from the moment you start the car. What other symptoms would I encounter if my voltage regulator was going bad? Where is it located? Thanks (newbie to 911 mechanical repairs)

Just to ad to Tim's list, another symptom of a failing voltage regulator is that sometimes your radio will shut off, or just stop playing (from getting too much voltage). The VR on your car is integrated into the alternator. To change it, you need to remove the alternator assembly (behind the engine fan). If you find that the VR is definitely going bad, it is usually a good idea to have the whole alternator/VR assembly replaced/rebuilt. It is not a job you will want to repeat very often! Good luck!
